thank you for this Godly commentary launching into the context of human brokenness and pin pointing a path to Godly character rather than expounding on cliched perspectiveson the interchange of characters in the account.

It is a dear presentation of God's clear call on my own undifferentiated life.

May the perfecting work of His Holy Spirit bring all to redemption and glory.

Blessings on His Gospel in your words,
Brenda

What a magnificent 'commentary.' I especially like this paragraph:

"Jesus sees her face. Their intent was to embarrass her and to trap him but Jesus gives her a face and an identity. He demands they look at her as a woman, a person, for the first time."

This record in the gospels has always been one of my favorites...if not my favorite. It has moved me many times, along with the passage of the woman with the issue of blood. Hmmm....both render the untouchable as touchable and human and real.

Reading your essay brought to mind Rene Girard. His theology is quite different (but I think valid), and I don't pretend to understand or agree with all his theories. Yet his presentation of mimetic contagion and scapegoating helped me to understand more clearly that process of the human social animal.

Thanks for sharing Rod! I so enjoy reading your insights. Glad it is summer! Ha! :-)

Regards,
~carol :-)
